Former Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri has praised Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, saying he has shown he has stronger political influence than his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua.
Ngunjiri made the remarks on Friday, November 28, 2025, in a video posted on his social media pages after the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) secured the Mbeere North parliamentary seat in the by-election.
Ngunjiri noted that Kindiki’s success in the mini polls demonstrated that he commands real support in the Mt. Kenya region.
He said the win had changed the political conversation around who truly leads the mountain, especially because Gachagua has repeatedly referred to himself as the region’s political kingpin.
According to Ngunjiri, the Mbeere North by-election played out like a direct contest between the current Deputy President and the former Deputy President.
He argued that the outcome showed that Kindiki is not only influential but also capable of delivering votes without relying on other senior leaders.
He added that the victory was a sign that the people of the region trust Kindiki’s direction and leadership.
The former Bahati MP also claimed that the results should serve as a wake-up call to Gachagua, who he said has often dismissed Kindiki’s relevance in the mountain.
Ngunjiri explained that the voters’ decision proved that Kindiki has built his own political base and enjoys support even in areas where some leaders had doubted him.
He further said that the Mbeere North win was not just about adding another seat to UDA’s tally, but about reshaping the region’s political map
