NEWS JUST IN: Ruto Appoints ex-CS Bore Back To Govt, 8 Other Ambassadors After Parliament's Approval

President William Ruto has officially named nine individuals to head Kenya’s diplomatic missions abroad, following their approval by Parliament.

The announcement was made in a special Gazette notice released on Friday, October 3, 2025.

Among those appointed is former Labour Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore, who will now serve as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Namibia, stationed in the capital Windhoek.

Bore, who previously served in Ruto’s Cabinet, will now take on the role of strengthening Kenya’s relations with the Southern African nation.

Other appointments include Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri as Kenya’s Ambassador to Turkey, Lucy Kiruthu to Thailand, and Henry Wambuma to Burundi. Abdirashid Salat Abdille was named Ambassador to Indonesia, while Joseph Musyoka Masila will serve in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Edwin Afande has been posted to Vienna, Austria, where he will represent Kenya at key international platforms.

In addition to the ambassadors, two Consuls-General were also confirmed. Jayne Jepkorir will head Kenya’s Consulate in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, while Judy Kiaria Nkumiri will serve in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo.
Parliament’s Vetting and Approval

The appointments come after the Parliamentary Defence and Foreign Relations Committee vetted the nominees in September.

The committee reported that all nine candidates met the required qualifications, including academic background, professional experience, and integrity.

The vetting process, which took place in public, allowed lawmakers and citizens to scrutinize the nominees’ past records and suitability for diplomatic service.

According to the committee’s chairperson, the team found no issues that would disqualify the nominees from taking up their respective roles.

The new ambassadors are expected to play a vital role in advancing Kenya’s foreign policy goals. Their assignments range from promoting trade and investment to building cultural ties and protecting the welfare of Kenyans living abroad.

In recent years, Kenya has been keen on expanding its diplomatic footprint, particularly in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

The newly appointed envoys are expected to continue this push, ensuring Kenya maintains strong partnerships across different regions.
