Since his dramatic impeachment in October 2024, Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has gone berserk against President William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza administration, refusing to live a solitary life away from politics.
In recent months, the outspoken politician has stepped up his criticism of the President, accusing him of betraying the people he serves and acting without consequence.
The former deputy president has expanded his campaign beyond Kenya's borders, using his current tour of the United States to criticize the government.
However, as former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua intensifies his onslaught against Kenya Kwanza government, Gatundu South MP Gabriel Kagombe has said that many Kenyans are not backing him to succeed Dr Ruto in 2027.
According to GG Kagombe, Kenyans may agree with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's criticism of President William Ruto, but they draw the line where he will require them to vote him into office.
"People are fine with Gachagua fighting President Ruto, but he will never be elected. When Rigathi Gachagua fights the president, the people say, "Okay, he's helping us."
It is not because they like him; rather, they like what he does. "If you go to the villages, you will hear people saying, 'Tunaweza msikiza, ni vizuri anapiga William, lakini hatuwezi mchagua,'" Kagombe explained.
In addition, he explained that Mount Kenya residents, particularly in rural areas, value Gachagua's confrontations with the Head of State, but are unsure whether to support him in the election.
Kagombe explained that many citizens resonate with Gachagua’s attacks on the President yet they fall short of winning him the trust and commitment needed to secure electoral victory.
According to Kagombe, their collective stance originate from not having personal preference for him as a leader.
Suggesting that Gachagua’s actions may draw nods of approval,
