Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka appears sidelined in the implementation of recommendations from the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report, despite being a co-chair of the crucial political panel.
Although Kalonzo played a leading role in steering the talks that sought to ease political tensions in the country after opposition protests, recent moves by President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga have left him out of the implementation phase.
Kalonzo has remained silent as the NADCO report was officially presented to President Ruto and Raila Odinga.
The duo who have formed broadbased government under UDA and ODM parties, have formed a five-member team to oversee implementation of NADCO report, which Kalonzo Musyoka played a starring role in it's formation.
There is speculation that Kalonzo was excluded because of his continued criticism of the political marriage between Raila and William Ruto, and opting to move closer to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who has been under fire from the leaders of the Broad-Based government.
And according to some political analysts and observers, believe Kalonzo has been deliberately sidelined due to his political stance ahead of the 2027 general election.
“It is surprising that the very man who led these talks for months is now excluded from the implementation plans. This is a sign of dirty politics in political coalitions,” said political analyst Dr. Joseph Mutie.
Mutie added that while some still believe Kalonzo has a chance to build himself up as a leading opposition presidential candidate, being sidelined in the implementation of the report which contains proposals on elections, governance, and more could undermine his national stature.
“Despite his efforts as a co-chair of the panel, he is currently being overlooked. This is a political strategy to weaken him ahead of 2027 because of his refusal to join the Inclusive Government,” said Mutie.
