New Headache For Ruto As Details Shows What KK Leaders Are Doing Amid Pressure From Gachagua

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has become a tough political heavyweight, immediately after being removed from office through an impeachment process.

The former Mathira Member of Parliament has joined other opposition leaders, including Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, Fred Matiang’i, among others, in efforts to ensure that President Ruto serves only one term.

As the political tensions between President Ruto and his former deputy continue to escalate, political analysts and observers have revealed that President Ruto might be fighting this battle alone and is receiving little to no support from his inner circle within the government.

These political analysts believe that individuals who should have been helping President William Ruto confront and politically neutralize Rigathi Gachagua have remained silent; some appear afraid to speak out, while others have seemingly disappeared, as political temperatures rise in the country.

“President William Samoei Ruto appears to be fighting this political battle on his own. Those who should be standing with him and shielding him from Rigathi Gachagua’s political assault are silent. Some seem afraid to speak, and others appear to have vanished entirely. This creates a perfect opportunity for Gachagua to expand his influence nationally,” according to People Daily.

Moreover, political analysts say President William Ruto is under intense pressure, as things are not going as he had anticipated when he won the 2022 general election against his main rival, Raila Odinga.

These analysts point out that the cost of living remains high, taxation is heavy, and many of the promises he made during the 2022 campaigns remain unfulfilled. This has created anxiety within the government, especially as citizens, led by the Gen Z youth, begin to show signs of opposing President Ruto’s administration.

And according to the analysts, this situation has given Gachagua a golden opportunity to gain public sympathy and grow his political influence in the Mount Kenya region.

“If things were going well in Kenya, President William Ruto wouldn’t be in the difficult position he is now. Even if politicians had abandoned him and left him to face his former deputy Rigathi Gachagua alone, the people would still be behind him, fully supportive. But now, life is hard for many Kenyans, prices are high, taxes are steep, and the promises of 2022 remain unfulfilled. This situation gives Gachagua an easy path to win public sympathy,” the report added.
