Jeremiah Kioni said, “Dr. Matiang’i is the best option against Ruto. We support him because we believe he can liberate the nation.”
Kioni emphasized that they are not fighting Gachagua but offering an alternative.
“We should not appear as though we are opposing him. We want to help Mt. Kenya and the entire country make the right decision in 2027.”
When asked if this is a third political faction, he said: “It depends on the forces in play. We know our common enemy is President Ruto. Those angered by our choice of Matiang’i can form their own alliances.”
Gachagua’s supporters have not remained silent as DCP Women’s Leader Cate Waruguru dismissed the new emerging coalitions.
“We have a technical team monitoring the political dynamics in Mt. Kenya. Some politicians are pretending to be persecuted to attract sympathy. Others orchestrated their own removal from parliamentary committees to appear as victims,” she said.
She claimed that there is a plan by politicians allied with President Ruto to field fake candidates in 2027 to dilute Gachagua’s influence and later accept the election outcome, even if it is controversial, to form a coalition government between 2027 and 2032.
“We know this scheme. Our job is to educate the public and expose these plans,” she added.
Embakasi North MP James Gakuya, a close ally of Gachagua, said that no meaningful politics can happen in Mt. Kenya without Gachagua’s blessing.
“Anyone wanting to do political business in Mt. Kenya must go through Gachagua. If you try another route, we will consider you an enemy,” he said.
