William Ruto, a Kenyan politician and businessman, has been president since 2022. Ruto was born on December 21, 1966, in Kamagut, Uasin Gishu, to Daniel and Sarah Cheruiyot.

Kerotet Primary School served as his elementary school, Wareng Secondary School for the Ordinary Levels served as his secondary school, and Kapsabet Boys, Nandi served as his advanced school.

He then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Botany and Zoology from the University of Nairobi in 1990. President Ruto has six biological children and one adopted daughter. He also makes sure his kids get the best education possible to set them up for success.

It was therefore not surprising that on August 9 of last year, he ran on a platform of aiding the poor. Under the Kenya Kwanza banner, which stands for Kenya First in Swahili, Mr. Ruto ran for office with the promise of boosting the country's economy.

Since 2013, Ruto has served as Kenyatta's deputy president, supporting him in two elections and guaranteeing his boss's support the year before.

It was a political convenience marriage in the aftermath of the deadly post-election violence of 2007-2008 which mainly pitted Kenyatta's tribe, the Kikuyu, against Ruto's ethnic group, the Kalenjin.

The two men were charged with inciting ethnic discord and brought before the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The prosecution asserted that the cases had finally been dropped as a result of an ongoing campaign of witness intimidation.

But when Kenyatta abruptly shifted his political allegiance with longtime rival Odinga in 2018, Ruto was left out in the cold.

Going back to the campaign trail, he charged that the president had threatened him and his family and held the government responsible for Kenya's economic woes. Both Kenyatta and his opponent were the targets of his campaign.

Fifteen years after the President made his prophecy that he would become Kenya's Commander-in-Chief while standing atop a presidential parade plaza at the JKIA, his problems still exist.

Dr. Ruto declared his intention to run for president in 1990 in the parade square at JKIA, shortly after the late Moi arrived from the US.One day, he promised, he would stand where Mzee Moi used to salute and check the guard of honor—at the Pavilion.

Former Eldoret North Constituency lawmaker William Ruto criticised late President Mwai Kibaki in the viral video for not granting greater authority to the mama mboga and boda boda sectors. According to Ruto, Kibaki was intended to provide those people with government jobs.

It seems he never considered that he would be sitting in that chair fifteen years later.Asserting that there are no jobs available, the Kenya Kwanza government has promised to improve the conditions for mama mboga and boda boda riders.
