Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has officially stepped down from his position as the Executive Director of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party.

In a resignation letter addressed to Azimio chairman Uhuru Kenyatta, Tuju confirmed that he had handed over the role to Philip Kisia.

The decision, he said, was reached during a joint meeting of the coalition’s Council and the National Executive Committee (NEC) held earlier in the day.

Tuju stated that the council resolved that he vacates office, paving the way for new leadership within the coalition’s secretariat. He noted that the transition process had already begun to ensure continuity of operations.

By copying the letter to relevant party organs, Tuju formally communicated that Philip Kisia would take over as the new Executive Director of the coalition.

The handover was described as smooth and in line with internal party resolutions.

Tuju, a seasoned politician and former Cabinet minister, has played a central role in Azimio’s administrative and strategic coordination since the coalition’s formation.

His exit marks a notable shift within the opposition outfit at a time when it is reorganising its structures.

The resignation comes amid broader realignments within Azimio, as the coalition seeks to strengthen its internal leadership and operational effectiveness.
