REVEALED: The Clever Trick Hitmen Used Before Luring and Killing Reverend Ndumia at Midnight

Fresh details have emerged regarding the killing of Julius Ndumia after investigators revealed that the attackers allegedly used deception and impersonation to gain access to the church compound before the fatal attack.

According to detectives investigating the case, four armed assailants reportedly posed as police officers during the late-night incident at PCEA Tabuga Parish in Lanet, Nakuru County, on May 3, 2026.

Investigators from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations said CCTV footage from the church compound captured movements believed to be linked to the suspects before and during the attack.

The footage reportedly shows a coordinated operation involving intimidation, deception and violence.

According to police findings, the attackers first confronted the security guard on duty, identified as Bernard Nyamwaka, shortly after arriving at the compound.

Detectives allege the guard was overpowered, held captive and tortured for more than 20 minutes before being forced to lead the suspects to the clergyman’s residence located about 200 metres from the main gate.

Authorities claim the attackers maintained the false identity of police officers conducting a security operation in order to avoid raising suspicion.

Investigators believe the tactic was specifically designed to convince Rev Ndumia to open his door willingly.

A detective familiar with the case reportedly stated that the suspects exploited the disguise to gain access to the house without resistance.

Once inside, the attackers allegedly launched a violent assault on both the pastor and the security guard before restraining them inside the living room.

Police say the victims were tied up and separated as the suspects searched the house for valuables for several hours.

The attackers later fled the compound after allegedly stealing property from the residence.

Rev Ndumia was subsequently found dead with severe injuries to the back of his head and neck.

The security guard survived the ordeal and was rushed to Nakuru Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment.

Authorities later placed him under witness protection as investigations continued.

So far, two suspects identified as Beryl Nafula Otenyo and Felix Odinga Okumu have been arrested in connection with the killing.

The suspects were presented before court, where detectives sought additional time to complete investigations, including DNA analysis and forensic examination of evidence collected from the scene.

Police also confirmed that Rev Ndumia’s mobile phone and SIM cards were allegedly recovered from the suspects.

Investigators are now examining the devices to establish whether fraudulent financial transactions were conducted after the pastor’s death.

Authorities have indicated that two more suspects linked to the attack are still at large.

The murder has sparked outrage among church members, residents and religious leaders, many of whom have called for swift justice and stronger security measures for clergy members.

Investigators continue piecing together the motive behind the killing as the case draws national attention due to the brutality of the attack and the elaborate deception allegedly used by the suspects.
