Dr Job Obwaka’s Widow Claims Late Doctor Lived in Fear Before His Death

Fresh claims have emerged surrounding the death of Job Obwaka after his widow alleged that the medic had been facing threats and intense pressure before his death.

Speaking during a memorial service held at CITAM Valley Road, Everose Obwaka claimed that her husband had repeatedly expressed fears about his safety following a court case linked to reforms at a hospital where he worked.

According to Everose, the late doctor allegedly came under pressure from influential individuals who wanted him to withdraw the case.

She told mourners that the pressure reportedly intensified after Dr Obwaka refused to comply, leaving him increasingly worried about possible consequences.

The widow further alleged that the situation created tension and anxiety within the family, with the doctor allegedly cautioning relatives to check on him whenever he became unreachable for several hours.

Everose claimed the persistent pressure disrupted peace at home and caused fear among family members.

During the emotional memorial address, she also alleged that Dr Obwaka was at one point arrested while reporting to work, despite having patients waiting for scheduled medical procedures.

According to her account, the late doctor was later detained even though he had a medical history that included open-heart surgery.

She further claimed that attempts by relatives and fellow doctors to secure specialised medical attention for him while in custody were unsuccessful.

Everose alleged that officers handling the matter indicated they were acting under instructions from senior authorities.

The widow, however, did not publicly identify the individuals she believed were behind the alleged pressure or threats.

Her remarks come amid heightened public attention surrounding disputes and legal battles linked to the management of The Nairobi Hospital, where Dr Obwaka had reportedly been involved in reform-related matters.

During the memorial service, Everose also appealed to Kenyans to refrain from spreading speculation and unverified information about her husband’s death on social media.

She said the family had already endured significant emotional pain and deserved privacy and respect as they continued mourning.

The widow defended the late doctor’s reputation, describing him as a committed medical professional devoted to his patients and family.

According to her, despite occasionally being approached by individuals encouraging him to pursue leadership positions, Dr Obwaka chose to focus on his medical career instead of politics.

She urged mourners and members of the public to remember him with dignity and respect, saying he dedicated his life to serving others through medicine.

Dr Obwaka’s death has continued to attract public interest, especially following ongoing wrangles linked to leadership disputes at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Kenyans on social media have continued sending condolence messages to the family while calling for transparency and restraint as discussions surrounding the doctor’s death continue.
