Kanze Dena Overcome by Emotions After Viewing Late MP Denar Hamisi’s Body

Media personality and former government spokesperson Kanze Dena was moved to tears on Tuesday evening when she viewed the body of the late nominated Member of Parliament Denar Joseph Hamisi.

The emotional moment unfolded at Lee Funeral Home, where family, relatives, and close friends had gathered to pay their last respects.

Those present said Kanze wept uncontrollably after stepping out of the viewing area, and it took other mourners to console her.

Her emotional reaction left many wondering about how close she was to the late legislator.

The atmosphere outside the funeral home was sad and quiet. A group of MPs and political leaders stood nearby, waiting for an official communication from medical and police teams handling the case.

Some of them had travelled from different counties immediately after receiving news of Hamisi’s passing.

According to details shared by those at the scene, Kanze remained seated for several minutes after viewing the body and appeared deeply affected.

Mourners whispered that the two had interacted often due to her work in government circles, though the nature of their friendship was not publicly known.

Hamisi passed away on December 6 after being involved in a fatal road accident near his residence.

Preliminary reports indicated that he was driving alone when his vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a tree before landing in a ditch.

Witnesses who arrived first said the legislator died instantly due to severe head injuries. Emergency responders later moved his body to the funeral home and towed away the badly damaged vehicle.

Although the cause of death appeared clear, a post-mortem was scheduled to confirm final medical findings.

Close colleagues from Parliament attended to oversee the examination.

Deputy Majority Leader Owen Baya led a cross-section of MPs during the visit. Several leaders described Hamisi as humble, focused, and hardworking.

According to parliamentary staff, he was actively involved in committee duties and often championed development projects for youth and families in his home county.

Some MPs recalled recent meetings where Hamisi had expressed interest in pushing new social welfare policies. Others highlighted his contribution toward improving education facilities in rural schools.

Plans for Hamisi’s burial have been announced. A requiem mass will take place on Thursday at Ridgeways Baptist Church, starting at 11 a.m.

That evening, his body will be transported to Kwale County for an overnight vigil in Mazeras. He will be laid to rest on Saturday, December 13, in his family home, where residents are expected to turn up in large numbers.

Community elders say preparations are already underway. Local leaders have appealed for peace and unity, noting that Hamisi’s contribution was widely appreciated across the county.
Kanze’s Emotional Connection

Those close to Kanze say she always formed strong bonds with leaders she worked alongside during her time as State House spokesperson.

Just last month, she delivered KSh 1 million on behalf of former president Uhuru Kenyatta to the family of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo.

She was also seen attending other charity-driven engagements, where families praised her compassion.

Observers believe these kinds of responsibilities expose her to emotionally heavy situations, especially involving bereaved families.

Online users sent messages of sympathy to both the MP’s family and Kanze. Comments ranged from prayers for strength to questions about their friendship.

Others simply remembered Hamisi as a promising leader whose life was cut short unexpectedly.
