A shocking revelation has emerged from within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) regarding Raila Odinga’s recent trip to India.

An ODM Member of Parliament has disclosed that the opposition leader, before his departure, confided in close allies about feeling unwell and even spoke about the possibility of collapsing or dying.

The MP, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the moment as deeply unsettling. “Baba was not in his usual spirit.

He mentioned that his body had been failing him lately and that he feared he might collapse anytime. It was a very emotional moment,” the legislator said.

Raila, 80, left the country last week for India in what his office described as a “private medical and rest visit.”

His absence has sparked widespread speculation and concern among his supporters, with many recalling similar health-related trips he has taken in the past.

According to the MP, Raila’s remarks were not meant to alarm his allies but to express the toll that years of political struggle and public life had taken on him.

“He said he has lived his life serving the people and that if God called him today, he would have no regrets,” the source added.

ODM officials have, however, downplayed any claims of a health scare. In a brief statement, the party’s communication director said, “The Right Hon. Raila Odinga is in good spirits and undergoing routine medical checks. There is no cause for alarm.”

Despite reassurances, Raila’s emotional words have stirred anxiety among his supporters across the country, many of whom view him as an irreplaceable figure in Kenya’s political landscape.

The veteran opposition leader has spent over four decades at the center of Kenya’s democratic struggles and has survived imprisonment, exile, and political betrayals.

His resilience has earned him admiration, but age and health have increasingly become subjects of public concern.

As Raila continues his stay in India, ODM leaders are urging calm and prayers for his quick recovery. “We just want our Baba to come back home strong and healthy,” said one party supporter in Kisumu.

Raila Odinga’s message before leaving Kenya now resonates deeply with many — a reminder of both his humanity and the sacrifices that have defined his long political journey.
