Ugandan opposition leader and presidential aspirant Bobi Wine has made a surprising declaration, vowing to ensure the safety and dignity of President Yoweri Museveni should he assume power in the next election.

The National Unity Platform (NUP) leader, known for his fierce criticism of Museveni’s long rule, said his goal is not revenge but building a new Uganda rooted in justice, reconciliation, and democratic governance.

Bobi Wine emphasized that true leadership requires forgiveness and the courage to move the country forward beyond decades of political tension.

His pledge marks a notable shift from the confrontational tone often associated with opposition politics in Uganda, signaling a strategy aimed at national unity and institutional reform.

Political analysts interpret the statement as an attempt to reassure the ruling elite and international community of a peaceful transition should Museveni lose power.

As Uganda edges closer to the next presidential contest, Bobi Wine’s message appears crafted to position him as a responsible and unifying alternative to Museveni’s 38-year administration. To read more, click here
