When I first opened my business, I believed that working hard was the only ingredient for success.

People told me, “Wake up early, put in long hours, and never stop pushing yourself.” I took this advice seriously and gave my business everything I had.

For months, I worked late into the night and rarely rested. I missed out on important family moments because I was always at the shop.

Every shilling I earned went straight back into the business. I thought that my sacrifice would eventually pay off.

But instead of growing, my business started to fall apart. Customers slowly stopped coming, my stock disappeared mysteriously, and debts kept piling up. No matter how much effort I put in, the results were disappointing. At some point, I felt completely lost.

It was then that I realized something important—hard work alone is not enough. A business also needs planning, balance, and the right environment to grow.

My problem was not just about effort; it was about the way I was handling everything. I had no proper accounting system, I was overworking myself, and I had no time to think clearly. Stress clouded my decisions, and mistakes followed.

After stepping back and rethinking my approach, I decided to change. I started keeping proper financial records, budgeting wisely, and learning about customer service.

I also gave myself time to rest so that I could think with a clear mind. Slowly, the results began to show. Customers returned, my profits stabilized, and the shop became peaceful again.
