MUNGU Bariki Matiang'i Awe Rais, Wengine Washindwe, Fearless Sheikh Blasts Ruto Before Uhuru

A dramatic scene unfolded during a public function on Thursday when a fearless Muslim cleric openly prayed for former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i to become the next President of Kenya.

The Sheikh, whose bold words left the crowd in shock, spoke in front of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, Dr. Matiang’i, and several political leaders.

In his prayer, the Sheikh asked God to bless Matiang’i, purify his heart, and guide him into leadership.

He further requested God to break all political obstacles that could stand in Matiang’i’s path, saying that those against him, including President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga, would not succeed.

“Mwenyezi Mungu, bariki Matiang’i. Mfanye awe Rais wa Kenya. Msafishe moyo wake. Vikwazo vyote vilivyoungana tunaomba uvishinde,” the Sheikh declared, sparking mixed reactions from the crowd.

The cleric accused both Ruto and Raila of misleading Kenyans through endless political fights, instead of focusing on uniting the nation and improving the lives of ordinary citizens.

According to him, Kenya needs a leader who is disciplined, hardworking, and God-fearing, qualities he claimed Matiang’i had shown while serving in government.

Those present described the moment as tense but powerful. Supporters of Matiang’i cheered loudly, while some leaders close to Ruto and Raila appeared uncomfortable with the remarks. Uhuru, who has in the past shown close ties with Matiang’i, remained silent but attentive as the Sheikh spoke.

The prayer has since sparked debate among Kenyans, with some praising the cleric for speaking his truth without fear, while others criticized him for openly attacking national leaders during a religious invocation.

Political analysts say the incident highlights the deep divisions within Kenya’s political space, where alliances shift quickly, and leaders often face public criticism.

Matiang’i, who has kept a low political profile since leaving office, has not yet declared interest in the presidency. However, the Sheikh’s prayer has now placed his name back in public conversations about future leadership.

The remarks also reflect the ongoing rivalry between Kenya’s top politicians, as religious figures increasingly find themselves drawn into the country’s heated political arena.
