A political science lecturer at the University of Nairobi, who is also a renowned political analyst, Herman Manyora, has warned the Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetangula, to avoid contesting for any political seat in Bungoma County.
Before becoming the Speaker of the National Assembly, remember that Mr. Wetangula was the Senator of Bungoma County.
Therefore, Prof. Manyora has strongly warned of dire consequences should he attempt to contest alongside his younger brother, Tim Wanyonyi, who has an interest in vying for the gubernatorial seat.
Speaking on Sunday, August 24, 2025, during an interview, Manyora pointed out that it would be difficult for Wetangula to run for any position if his brother, who is the current MP for Westlands, contests for the governorship in Bungoma County.
“It will be difficult for Wetangula to vie for anything if his brother runs for governor; they will spoil each other; they will both go home; their opponents will benefit; they will not succeed; none of them will succeed,” Manyora said.
Manyora advised that if he were in Wetangula’s position, he would support his younger brother while himself focusing on a national seat.
“If I were Wetangula, I would not spoil for my younger brother; I would let him become governor with my support, and I would go for a national position, because Wetangula is a shrewd politician; anyone who underestimates him should be careful,” he added.
According to him, the two would spoil each other’s chances, thereby giving their opponents an easy path to victory, and in the end, none of them would succeed.
Additionally, Manyora praised Wetangula, saying that without his support through the Bungoma votes in the year 2022, Ruto might not have won the presidency.
