The opposition party leader Raila Odinga, is reportedly facing hard time to maintain his enigmatic grip on youthful leaders within his ODM party, which has casted a lot of questions on whether the oldest party will live to see the 2027 polls as a firebrand party.
Despite having many youthful leaders elected on ODM banner, some feel it's time to bolt out due to constrained nature of it's hierarchy, and they have shown signs of rebellion and possibly dumping Raila Odinga for other coalition.
And according to political analyst Masibo Lumala, Raila Odinga should act very fast and address the internal splits in the ODM party and bring things into order before it is too late.
He cautioned the former prime minister that he should not ignore the young leaders since the party will face it tough for ODM in 2027.
“Raila Odinga's ODM party should ignore the young leaders at their own peril,” Prof Masibo added.
So far the Embakasi East lawmaker Babu Owino has showed clear indicator that he could ditch the ODM party, when he openly declared support for Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
In addition, Nairobi senator, and ODM Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna, just like Babu Owino, has been critical against Broad-Based arrangements between Raila Odinga and President William Ruto.
The outspoken ODM legislator has been a harsh critic of the Kenya Kwanza government, which includes his party's leader.
Furthermore, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has stated unequivocally that he will not seek reelection on the ODM ticket if the working agreement with Kenya Kwanza is not terminated.
“When young leaders such as Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, Babu, Sifuna, and others leave ODM, they will not do so alone, but with their constituents..” Lumala noted.
